Women Business Leaders Defending Democracy

In July 2023, Jeni Britton, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, featured in a Leadership Now ad opposing Ohio's August Issue 1, aiming to raise the constitutional amendment threshold to 60%. This strategy was seen as an attempt to block an abortion rights amendment supported by 57% of voters. Issue 1 was defeated, allowing the abortion rights amendment to pass in November 2023. Jeni’s ad garnered 950K views, highlighting the impactful role of women business leaders in defending democracy.

 

Defending Women Election Officials

On January 13, 2024 Dane County Judge Ann Peacock upheld election stability by safeguarding Election Administrator Meagan Wolfe's position, a move supported by Wisconsin Business Leaders for Democracy and Leadership Now members. We filed a business-oriented amicus brief, opposing the lawsuit by legislative leaders seeking to fire her, highlighting the importance of impartial, stable election administration.
