"New York Officials to Team Up With Wall Street to Keep National Guard Out"

The Wall Street Journal highlighted Leadership Now Project’s work alongside New York state officials and business leaders to prevent a federal intervention in New York City that could threaten public safety, economic stability, and the city’s ongoing recovery.

Amid national discussions about federal troop deployments and escalated enforcement actions in several U.S. cities, New York leaders are taking a proactive, data-driven approach to ensure the city remains safe, funded, and positioned for long-term competitiveness. For months, the state has been coordinating closely with business and civic stakeholders to demonstrate why National Guard deployments and similar federal actions would harm—not strengthen—New York.

"Daniella Ballou-Aares, CEO of the Leadership Now Project, a business group of 400 politically active current and retired business executives, said the case against a Trump takeover isn’t about supporting Mamdani.

“It’s more an argument for the city as a whole and that no one benefits from a federal intervention,” said Ballou-Aares, whose group has also engaged with the business community to consider the best ways to avoid a Trump takeover.

“Whether you are happy or unhappy with the mayor, we all want the city to thrive,” she said."
