Leadership Now Project Applauds Governor Sherrill’s Bold Action on Permitting Reform
Leadership Now Project welcomes Governor Sherrill’s Executive Order to streamline and expedite permitting as a meaningful step toward strengthening New Jersey’s economic competitiveness and delivering on the affordability agenda voters supported last November. Persistent permitting delays raise costs, slow investment, and make it harder for the state to build the housing and infrastructure its economy needs. Executive Order No. 5 will help address those challenges by increasing transparency, reducing unnecessary red tape and establishing a focused team to streamline approvals.

"Trump is rewriting the rules of the economy…is it ‘crony capitalism’?"
NPR’s Consider This featured Leadership Now Project CEO Daniella Ballou-Aares on how President Trump is reshaping U.S. capitalism—and the risks this shift poses for American businesses.
In the interview, Daniella warned that the country is moving away from the rules-based capitalism that has long underpinned U.S. economic strength, toward a more personalized, politically driven system that creates instability and uncertainty for business leaders. She reinforced that concern with new data: Leadership Now Project and The Harris Poll found that 84% of business leaders across the political spectrum are worried about today’s political and legal climate impacting their companies.
Daniella’s message was clear: crony capitalism is bad for competitiveness, bad for innovation, and bad for long-term business security—especially in systems where leaders can pick winners and losers.
